Oops, a day or two behind on progress posts. Bad landlady.

Unsurprisingly, I've been kind of out of it the last couple of days. I got about 500 words on Tuesday and 800 on Wednesday, usually during my lunch breaks.

I've discovered that it's hard for me to both get NaNo-volume writing done and do volunteer work in the same evening. It's not a time thing as both activities usually only take a couple of hours to acheive--it's an energy thing. I usually spend whatever is left of the night MMOing, because it takes minimal brain energy on my part.

All of my volunteer work is done for the week, though, so hopefully I can get back to the writing tonight.

Still plugging away, but I've realized just how slow a writer I've become in my old age. I need to improve on my speed, because 2,000 words in 3 hours? Too slow!!!

That said, thanks to Sunday's early boost, I'm still a day ahead of the curve for overall NaNo word count.

Yesh! That's what I meant. I only have about 3 hours of free time in the evening, and I need some time to unwind (writing isn't stressful, but it's also not relaxing), so...

Okay, honestly? 2,000 words in 3 hours? Too slow!!! is pretty damn intimidating for someone who can't manage that much in a day EVER. ^^;

I didn't mean that as a generalized comment, but one meant for me. When I used to be able to write almost 2k/hour, taking 3 times as long is frustrating. >_>

Of course, I fully expect to be played the world's smallest violin for that. ^_^;;

Finally shook off the flu enough to get a decent day's writing yesterday (1800 words). If I can keep this up I'll catch up someday.

Over the past couple of days I managed to write about, um, 1700 words. So I'm in good shape regarding my word goal. :)

And most of the stuff I wrote yesterday was subliminal stream-of-consciousness psychobabble that ended up devolving into a long rant about my friend's pet labrador.

Which, um.

Really had nothing at all to do with a fantasy steam-punk story with flying city-states and steampunk warfare. Really at all.

Unless they used the poodles as cannon fodder....

... yeah. I took tonight off from writing, even though I'm behind on average wordcount, just so I could spend some time thinking about where the story is going, because I think that's going to help my progress more than forcing myself to keep going will.

That sounds like an incredibly good idea. The minimum 1667 daily word requirement is the bane of my existence this month. -____- Although seeing my story grow in quantity, if not quality, is always very satisfying.
