Hah! This is NaNo fever time, isn't it? I've been saying all month that I wasn't going to do it, and then this morning I thought, "...but I could, you know..." ^^;;;;
Yeah, this probably the first time I've felt so uncertain about my project, especially at the last minute. The one I've been working is lacking something... and largely I think it's a cohesive novel like thing--it's a lot of backstory, spread out over time. I'm not sure it's a story to be noveled, so much as vignettes.
The competing idea is not a new one, it's one I was dinking with as far back as a year ago. This morning, I was thinking about something in it, and the narrative clicked. I mean, it still lacks a ton of other important things that I really should plan ahead on, but mygoal is just to get a story told and dip my toes back into novel-writing.
No one said it had to be any good ;)
At this point, I might alternate both come the first few days of November, and see which sticks once I dive into it.
I told myself I was going to ease up this week and give myself a break, since daily checking in was starting to make me feel guilty instead of productive. But now, of course, I want to work on stuff again -- I'm wondering if I could get enough of an outline together by this weekend that I could try pushing out some rough draft for NaNo after all. >->;

Now, the other idea has, like, a plot. And stuff. I'm still struggling with getting it to "ding" but it's there.
This one just has some characters and a vague backstory.
I guess November 1st shall decide ;)

Good luck making the call!
