a 2010 keep-on-writing goal set?

So! This comm has been quiet...too quiet.

And now it's a new year!

I'd like to propose a new running challenge for Copper Street, inspired by LJ's [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout: people can pledge to an overall annual wordcount this month, and then we'll check in periodically to report how we're doing.

- You choose what kind of writing counts: every word you get down, all your fiction, only your original fiction, whatever is a useful limit for you.

- Goals would be in increments of 50,000 words (remember, this is an annual, cumulative total); unlike GYWO, I'd like to have a base goal of 50,000 words, which means about 1000 words/week with two weeks off. Since you pick your own goal, and you don't win any prizes except the satisfaction of doing it, I'd rather make the challenge accessible for people who aren't terribly prolific/verbose along with people who are already in high-word-count mode.

What do you think? Would that be useful for people? Would you like to participate? Let me know, and if there's interest I'll set up a post for people to pledge to their goals. :3

Hmm...I would like to participate. I will put some thought into my goal--I have a novel I would like to finish.

That sounds like a really good idea, actually. I'd be interested in a challenge like that.

Yeeeees, this would be very useful. I'm currently poking at my writing goals, trying to figure out what I want. And I'm learning that announcing my goals makes me a bit more motivated to meet them! Er.

I think this is a good idea and I would be willing to participate. ^^ I've been both lazy and nitpicky about my writing in the last year, so I'm going to pull out all the stops this year and just do.

Agreed. *just recently broke writing drought, so it would be helpful to just pull out stops*

Yay!

I might make a sub-pledge for my GYWO goal here (i.e. 100K on the Novel of Doom as a sub-set of my 200K for the year), that would be neat :)

I think that really would be useful, so yeah!

Oh, I like the sounds of that. I'll need to think up a goal to set for myself.

Thanks for waking up the comm--the holidays (traveling, work, traveling, oh hey, we're moving!) really got me unwound and I lost my touch.

I'll also think on joining this one :)
