Last week did not go well for me; I'm stalled on my story and my heart isn't in the one I'm trying to tell.
I've gone back and forth on dropping out since I'm so behind (I think less than 15k) and I don't want to force myself to write something that's not working out for me. New and unexpected work responsibilities are sapping a lot of my energy, and while I knew I'd be busy this month, I wasn't expecting that.
I'm stubborn because I've only dropped one NaNo all these years, but I'm also wiser than I used to be and know there's a difference between forcing out words on something that's dry and the casual procrastination of the writer.
So I think the compromise I've reached is that there are some side stories related to that novel I want to tell more than the novel-version, so I'm just going to write for the rest of the month, even if they are disconnected and not at all novel-like and see what I end up with.
I've had several days of no-nano-at-all, which makes me far behind enough that it would be a miserable, doomed project to try to catch up.
So! Revising my goals!
I'd like to keep working on the story, since I do like a lot of where it was going; my new goal is to come up with 5k for it this week, still using the Write or Die sprint method.
And maybe to finish one more ficlet for this month's Kink Bingo mini-challenge. But that doesn't have to be either long or complicated. ^^;
I am also quite behind on NaNo...probably behind enough that I won't catch up, but I do have all of next week off, and even though it's not likely I'll catch up (I am spending the week at the coast and if the weather permits, want to hike and stare at the ocean and such), there's a very small part of me saying, "...maybe?"
So maybe I will catch up, and maybe I won't, but my goal is to keep plugging away at the story and also poke at some non-NaNo things (like Yuletide! Eeeee!) that I can theoretically finish (okay, maybe not Yuletide) and therefore Feel Accomplished.
Thank you! I got off to a really rough start this year and have been behind until now. It's such a load of stress off to be at the right place finally. (I am a spaz about NaNo and I know it.)
I fell behind on NaNo this week and didn't write at all on Friday. And then yesterday I realized that I have to seriously rethink one of my characters, and I figured this out as I was writing him INTO the story.
So this week's goal is to get caught up on NaNo by Saturday evening and quickly reinvent this character so he fits back into the world. >_>
I didn't quite manage to hit my goal of writing every day and when I did write I wasn't spending a whole lot of time on it. So! This week, same goal of editing/rewriting every day, but also for 20 minutes a day.
Very, very behind on the NaNo word count. D: Planning to work out how I can catch up- will see how that goes.
Got a start on a piece that's been hanging around in my head for a while, though. Not all that satisfied with what I've got of it so far- I'll probably edit it a lot before I am- but I really want to finish a lot of the things that are hanging around, so.

In spirit, if not in technicality :)

I am glad that neither of us are just throwing out the towel on the story/characters, though :)

I managed to swing 2200 words on Saturday, and 3300 on Sunday, and I hit 25,000 before 3 pm on Sunday and I am super super excited about that.
This week's goal is 2000/day on NaNo and, if I can swing it, writing the fourth chapter of the five-chapter fic I've been poking at for years.
